Introducing Ryan Wood 4 star 3DE Rider, Trainer and Coach.

Background

Having ridden horses competitively since the age of eight, Ryan has utilised a combination of hard work and talent to achieve both competitive success and a developing business; Woodstock Eventing. As an EFA NCAS level 1 coach Ryan now trains young horses for clients and also coached riders in eventing, showjumping and dressage on a full time basis.

He self funds travel to the USA and Europe every few years in the eventing off-season to spend extended periods training with some of the world’s best competitors and trainers. These study trips are intensive working positions, where Ryan has access to coaching by Olympic stars such as Ludger Beerbaum in return for riding and training many horses each day.

The road to international success in equestrian sport is complex and difficult, and Ryan acknowledges the support of the NSW Institute of Sport via the elite eventing squad.

Ideals

Sportsmanship

I aim to always represent my sport at the highest level of good sportsmanship. I am aware of setting a good example for younger/less experienced riders, and follow implicitly the rules and regulations which govern the sport of eventing.

Ethics

The ethical treatment of my eventing partners – my horses – is always foremost in my mind. All Woodstock horses are trained using classical and humane methods, and the horse’s wellbeing is paramount. Training, travelling, competing and day-to-day life of my horses is undertaken on an ethically sound basis.

Presentation

I am to represent the Woodstock Performance Horses Team impeccably at all times. All my own and clients horses are prepared by myself and my team to a high standard at competitions, training days and schooling events. Sponsored horses can wear sponsors co-ordinated colours when competing.
